Certified translation Services
A certified translation is a translation that has been formally verified for use in official proceedings (judicial or administrative procedures, international tenders, arbitrage purposes, etc.).
Documents that require certified translation services might also include birth certificates, university degrees, judicial resolutions, patents, protocols, informed consents, public deeds and many others.
Sworn translations ( “traducciones juradas” )
A sworn translator is a professional translator who has been duly authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to translate documents to/from a particular language and to act as interpreter of that language in official acts taking place in Spain (see below).
A sworn translation is an official document in its own right. It can be used in any kind of official proceedings in Spain .
Apostille (The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961)
This is a certification under which a government department authenticates a document as genuine. Once a document has been apostilled, it is automatically deemed legalised for use in another country. The translation of such a document by a sworn translator allows it to maintain its official status. In some cases, authorities require that in addition the signature of the sworn translator it is authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At Interlinco we are used to dealing with such formalities and are able to offer our clients a fast sworn translation in addition to an apostille/authentication service, for a minimal fee.
Official interpreters
In Spain , similar to other countries, certain official or formal acts (granting of public deeds by non-Spanish speakers, judicial hearings, etc.) require the presence of an official interpreter. As mentioned above, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorises certain professionals to work both as an official (“sworn”) translator and interpreter .
At Interlinco, we proudly collaborate on a regular basis with some of the most prestigious Spanish sworn translators and interpreters.
